According to a report by Practo Technologies Pvt Ltd using data from 78,000 women, there has been an increase in cancer and mental health consultations by Indian women in 2022. The survey revealed that more women under 25 are requesting mental health care, and the number of womens consultation increased by 23% year over year (YoY).

Importantly, younger women sought out the majority of mental health appointments, particularly for psychotherapy, psychiatry, and psychology. Also, women under the age of 35 consulted about mental health the most, and the most common issues were eating disorders, drug and alcohol addiction, suicidal behavior, stress, and withdrawal symptoms.

CEO of healthcare strategy, Dr. Alexander Kuruvilla, stated that the number of younger women seeking mental health treatment has significantly increased recently, and this pattern demands attention and action. The de-stigmatization of mental health issues, the influence of social media on mental health, and the particular strains and difficulties that younger generations confront are just a few of the many variables that contribute to this trend. Dr. Rajiv Nandy, a clinical psychologist, and the head of the Shristi Child Development & Learning Center discussed the trend and commented that the most important catalysts for this transition have been acceptance and knowledge.

Additionally, the survey showed that there was a 118% growth in women in the age group 25–34, followed by women in the age group 35–44, in the case of oncology consultations. The other specialties consulted by women in 2022 were gynecology, dermatology, general medicine, dentistry, and pediatrics.
